Uptown Bodegas Can Apply For Security Grant: Cameras, Panic Button

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A Bronx elected official is offering a safety grant to businesses in Washington Heights and Harlem, along with in the Bronx, that is prioritized for bodegas.

The grant, which is sponsored by Assembly Member Amanda Septimo, will address the following needs for local businesses.

In order to qualify, you must have a business located in the South Bronx, Washington Heights, or Harlem. You must also have seven or fewer employees, and have been in business for at least one year.

"The Small Business Security Initiative was started to help small owners keep themselves, their employees, and their customers safe," reads an explanation of the grant on Septimo's website. "The first round of this program will prioritize bodega owners, but we hope to expand it across New York soon!"

Staying in Washington Heights business news, Community League of the Heights is hosting a job fair on June 17 at 504 W. 158th St.

Employers representing Amazon, NY Presbyterian, FDNY, Columbia University Irving Medical Center will be in attendance.

The job fair will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
